SPRING NESTING

Yesterday we hoped to see a cardinal build a nest in the shrubs outside the windows at Nancy's house. A pair of young cardinals came to look into the shrubs and the female flew off. She came back with a long thin stick and worked her way to the spot they had looked at earlier. I kept watching but she never came back to build the nest. I think papa cardinal talked her into locating somewhere else. I was disappointed because I wanted to see a life cycle just outside the window. They may have been spooked by the cat in the house looking out the window at them.

    Sader:
A roasted shanklbone as a reminder of the sacrificial lamb
A roasted egg as a reminder of the Passover sacrifice made in the Temple in Jerusalem
Maror a bitter herb(s) aka horseradish as a reminder of the bitterness of Egyptian slavery
Haroset-a mixture of apples, nuts, cinnamon, and wine which represents the mortar the Isralites used to make bricks in Egypt
Parsley, to be dipped into a dish of salt water before being eaten, and
three matzahs as a reminder of the unleavened bread that the Jews took with them when they left Egypt.

It was such bread that Jesus broke at the last supper and the wine at that supper that represented Jesus' sacrifice for us.
